Authors Note to Parents
& Teachers
Dear Parent and Teacher,
As the Series’
author and producer one of my main objectives for this website is to introduce you to an
innovative and valuable tool for teaching music, which was designed to enhance the
elementary student's ability to comprehend the fundamentals of music as well as other
disciplines. You'll be pleased to know that this teaching tool - entitled "In
The Land Of Staff" - will allow you to reach more than 50% of the expected goals
found within several of the Canadian Provincial Curriculums, as well as the National
Standards Curriculum USA. This covers Music for Kindergarten through to Grade 6.
"In The Land Of
Staff" is a Series which allows children to journey to an island, both stimulating to
the spirit and to the imagination, while learning about the life within music. Each
story takes the listener on a musical journey filled with both fantasy and reality, thus
stimulating the imaginative and comprehensive sides of the mind. Using this
approach, the series stands as a cross-curricular guide, as it covers social aspects, and
the triple arts aspects including music, literature, and visual.
Each volume's story offers new
fundamentals of higher complexity than the ones previous. Within each, the animated
characters further illustrate the concepts being introduced. Therefore, by bringing
the Notes to life, their existence becomes that much more important in the mind of a
child. After all, "a spoonful of sugar" does help to "make the
medicine go down". Because children never forget their first experience with
any given subject, I want to have a positive impact on the future of those who come in
contact with my concepts for teaching music as well as social aspects.
The materials available for
each volume include a CD with the story and songs, a story book in full color picture
form, colored stickers to be placed in the activities section found at the back of each
book, and a teacher's guide. The teacher's guide along with the CD and story book
provide a complete vehicle required for learning, as it allows both student and
teacher/parent to share some interactive and personal experiences.
Experiencing both Volumes 1
& 2 children will understand the true meaning of giving and receiving, the importance
of unity, coping skills, and the success that comes from sharing and cooperation. All of
these things will be effective for developing moral principals and discovering the
glorious gift of musical expression.
In closing, I would like to

As we walk through life, each step influenced by
our experiences,
It is true that each soul, which touches our own, is in essence
A breath unveiling -
Our existence is sustained…
So I ask you this…
What is a more memorable way of breathing life into the future of a child, than a personal
experience shared with a parent or teacher through music?

will enjoy this journey into teaching, as much as the child into learning.
